Thomacine Haywood, N.C.R., L.M.T., U.R.M., offers sound therapy sessions featuring the hypnotic healing sounds of the Himalayan Singing Bowls, tuning forks and Native American rattles.
She is certified as a Master of Himalayan Bowl Therapy by international Himalayan history and cultural expert Mitch Nur. And is one of only a dozen trained by West Nepalese Bon Po Medicine Lama Khenpo Tenzin Dargye Rinpoche during his 2009 U.S. teaching tour.
Haywood is the founder of the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) Reflexology Certification Program. She is also a licensed massage therapist and nationally certified reflexologist.
Adding the healing sounds of the bowls, forks and rattles to traditional massage is a way she helps her clients to relax more deeply. "This way their bodies can utilize the benefits of massage more profoundly," she states.
The bowls she uses are not just any bowls sold in today's marketplace. But many are collector's prized antiques which possess sacred elements of metals and precious stones imbedded in them. The metalurgy of this process helps clients to reach deeper states of relaxation.
"If you can recall the feeling of complete relaxation you experience right before you drop off into a deep sleep. This is the state to where the bowls can transport you," she relates.
The sounds of the bowls are the antidote to the epidemic of stress-related conditions running rampant today.
One American Medical Association study concluded that between 75-90 percent of doctor visits can be attributed to the effects of stress.
"The state of relaxation clients experience with the bowls is one usually only reached by yogis or those who are disciplined in the art of meditation," she says.
Appointments for sound therapy sessions are available with massage and bodywork sessions like deep tissue, reflexology, hot stone or pre-natal bodywork. Or sessions featuring sound therapy sessions without bodywork are also available.
